The lowdown
The powerful ESW-8HG uncovers what you've probably missed before-deeper, cleaner bass. It's the way to go if you're building your dream system; in fact, it's the perfect partner for the C Series and Take Series speakers.
A built-in amplifier allows this hard-hitter to deliver 200 watts of RMS power you'll feel as well as hear. The ESW-8HG, with its black ash veneer, matches many of our speaker lines and looks great next to any flat panel display

Great subwoofer! March 25, 2010 2nd Round Audiophile (Indiana, USA) I use this with the Energy Take 5 surround sound speakers and a Pioneer VSX-919AH A/V receiver (120W per channel). I am picky about bass - I want it to go as close to 20Hz as possible and clean, absolutely no hint of mud and no exaggerated volume. The first time I heard deep bass on it (closing theme song of Leverage TV show), I hit rewind on the DVR several times to hear it again because I was impressed. Amazing (albeit powered 200W) sub, especially for the price. So I really like it! And the controls have more than enough flexibility to satisfy both my wife and I (she likes less bass so it's easy to reach behind and adjust bass volume separately from receiver).
Energy EWS-8HG 8" 200 Watt Take Classic Subwoofer January 31, 2010 B. Wills (Mechanicsville, VA USA) I gave this as a gift to go with the speakers that he had already purchased. He is totally satisfied. Fast Service.
Astonishing January 24, 2010 Chuck Hickl (Tulsa, OK) First off, let me qualify my comments with the statement that I am not what I would consider an "audiophile". I appreciate good sound as it relates to my movie watching and music listening experience but I do not get caught up in the finer details of sound reproduction that some enjoy discussing. I am an average guy looking for the best value in a 5.1 sound system which brings us to my comments. Over the last couple of years, after purchasing a 50" Samsung DLP television, I have enjoyed my Home Theater experience. Although I did have a 5.1 surround sound system, it was an older Sony HTIB and really wasn't doing my TV justice. I upgraded my receiver to a nice Onkyo model a year ago and have spent the last year looking for the right deal on a 5.1 speaker system to come along. After extensive research, I had settled on the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 Speaker system and was waiting for the prices to drop some when I ran across the Energy system in a thread on the AVS Forums and 500+ pages of positive comments swayed me to give them a try. At less than 1/2 the price of what I was prepared to pay for a Definitive Technology system, I was somewhat skeptical of the kind of performance I was going to be getting for an entire 5.1 speaker system for less than $300. All I can say is WOW! It took some effort to get the levels set properly but once adjusted, the system has exceeded my expectations by leaps and bounds. Strong, solid base and clear mids/highs. What a difference it has made in my Home Theater experience.
Energy subwoofer December 17, 2009 Christopher H. Heller (Chicago, IL) This was a perfect setup for the small room where the entertainment center is located. Looks good and does the job

i picked this sub up and just found myself wanting more. not enough thump in my opinion. picked up an asw-10 from the speaker company for a similar price and was pleased with it's performance.
