| Features:
| • | A JBL computer-optimized bass-reflex port provides deeper bass and less turbulence. | | • | Use of premium components gives you less distortion. | | • | These speakers are designed to look good anywhere with a style that equals their substance. | | • | The JBL ES Series uses cellulose-fiber cones reinforced with a ploymer coating for uniform pistonic motion: this eliminates internal resonances, without increasing cone mass. This means tighter, more precise imaging over a wider listening area. |

Good speaker, good price, good deliver... July 16, 2010 Kevin Green (San Diego, CA) I had to replace a HK woofer that died on me...this was a good fit.. it does not look as nice as the HK did..but it's better looking than most.
Excellent sound quality June 23, 2010 H. Mohammadpour (Carlsbad, CA, USA) I have nothing but to say this is a great product and am very happy with quality of the sound I get from this
These blow up! April 5, 2010 James C. Kelley (PA, USA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Bought the predecessor (JBL 12" 250watt RMS sub) to this about five years ago and the circuit board fried for no reason but under-engineered. My brothers indentical unit had the same failure! No parts available says JBL but they said but they would buy it back from me for a song and sell me an identical refurb for a lot of loot. I ask why there are parts for refurbs they resell but NOT for me? I raised hell, called up Sales Manager and called them on their refurb scheme. They sent me a new subwoofer for free - the subwoofer is the item shown here and IS the subject of this review, just read on!
Good, all set - I thought! Now this 2nd subwoofer fries about 2 years later. I took it apart too. Same damage on the circuit board. Same under-designed power supply stage. I will not contact JBL again as I am done with their subs and other products. But I wonder if they sell this unit as a refurb too. Now YOU know why others say they can't get parts and why these subs fry so much. It's a good scheme for JBL. They clearly are replacing the cheap circuit board and selling the same sub over and over and over!
I am a musician and have bought JBL all my life but no more. This sub was used on a home theater along side a Bose Lifestyle 5.1 system. The sub has in no way been abused or played too loud. The Bose has outlasted 2 of these JLB junk heaps. I am buying a different, cheaper 12" sub and if it fries, so be it. This unit will die on you. It is no way worth the price and similar units sell for half the price or even less. Watch this product - don't get stung!
jbl 12" subwoofer April 2, 2010 Joseph A. Totaro (long island) hooked this baby up 2 my sony 1000 watt receiver n was blown away when we watched reign of fire. when the dragons came swooping down out of the sky breathing fire my whole house was shaking, this is n incredible sub at a great price n completes my surround sound system perfectly. my stereo will just gather dust as i will only b listening 2 music on the tv from now on
Bringing Down The House March 28, 2010 D Patel (Somerset, NJ) I have not yet pumped this sub to it's maximum capacity out of fear that it will rattle my walls and bring down paintings and other decor in our house. I was debating a lot between this sub and the Polk Audio, PSW505. I chose this one because of the brand reputation. I am glad I made that decision. I am very content with the looks, feel, and sound quality of this sub. I am especially impressed by how clean the bass sounds. Even when watching high impact scenes from movies, the bass is not overwhelming (assuming it's set to half-way). I would describe it more as refreshing sounds, and am very thankful for that because that helps with the wifey who won't tolerate a sub in the house if it simply produces deafening noise.
In short, I would recommend this sub to any one looking to add nice, clean bass to their sound system. This speaker makes a world of difference when watching movies. I have not yet tested this sub on regular music/cds, but I have no doubts that it will perform incredibly.
