This new Special Edition uses a shorter but deeper cabinet, with increased volume. The bigger volume, in combination with the special bass tuning, offers extended low frequency information for even more realistic reproduction of sound. This gives the extra level of richness the audiophile is searching for!
Perhaps the most distinctive piece of engineering on the TX-T2 is the original 'free air' tweeter. Sitting on its own ultra-rigid, spherical, aluminum enclosure on top of the 113cm tall cabinets, the 25mm, silk-dome, Neodymium tweeter can be rotated to face ear axis, making room integration far easier. Free of unwanted diffractions due its shape, this tweeter technology delivers clear, transparent sound with optimum dispersion.
Two 16.5cm 'Crystal fibre' mid/bass drivers use tightly woven fiberglass with mechanical properties - light yet extremely stiff - delivering linear and fast response, which a phase plug only enhances. Moreover, the form works with the surround to damp unwanted standing waves, so coloration is reduced to an absolute minimum.
The magnetically shielded drivers (which means the speakers can be placed close to a TV) are backed by heavy duty, powerful magnets, delivering exceptionally high efficiency levels. With a sensitivity rating of 92dB/W/m, the T2 is a supremely amp friendly design.
Each driver is housed in its own damped and sealed chamber, with the two woofers having smooth airflow ports. The cabinets are incredibly heavily braced at critical points to offer as acoustically dead an enclosure as possible. Such extensive strengthening of the cabinet panels maximizes the dynamic capacity of the designs.
The cabinets also offer extremely small, exceptionally narrow, though deep, footprints. This shape delivers drastic reductions in diffraction - especially from the front baffles - an incredibly three-dimensional soundstage, and far clearer stereo imaging.
