 GREAT SPEAKERS! July 28, 2010

I am a retired aerospace machinist, and I have found the X-Mini MAX II Speakers to be most useful around the house. If I am working in the kitchen, and don't want to disturb anyone-(wife-grandkids) or reading/ (napping) , I run my iPod through these speakers at fairly low to moderate volume. They are perfect. They hold a charge so long, that I just charge them from time to time, but the light has remained blue(charged) since I got them. These are my second set, my daughter having "borrowed" the first pair. They are great. I would purchase again, and they would make a great gift-OR "Lend Out"

Very portable and fairly robust (durable), especially inside of included soft case. Good sound and very nice battery life. USB to recharge (and play from USB concurrently). Used with small laptop for better sound and MP3 (FLAC, M4A) player in various locations, including the beach. Very nice sound for the portability. Definitely worth the money.

I always go to CNET for the reviews, it really helps to make a final decision on a product. First of all I am amazed at how fast I received the speakers. I ordered them from home (FL) Wed afternoon, they arrived at my friends home (CA) the following afternoon and that was with regular ground shipping.
I just had to find a set of compact travel speakers to hook up my "nano". What I found frustrating was not being able to hook up my iPod to "current" systems in the hotel rooms I was staying in...wrong hookups or lack of them. I put off purchasing the X-Mini II on my last trip but this time I just could not go without. I did a last minute search and found the X-Mini MAX II speakers. The photo of these speakers appears as one but really there are two speakers. The bottom of each speaker has a magnet that keeps them together for storage, nice and compact. Product description is exactly what you'll expect. The play time is unbelievable, I have gotten more than 20 hrs. now, I stopped trying to keep track. They are playing now as I am writing this review.
They are very loud, good sound quality, nothing I would have expected from these little speakers and I love the design. I was really amazed how well the music carried over the winds we had on the beach that night along with the ocean waves and the roar of the fire.
Great product, hopefully will last awhile. I would certainly recommend them.

Having fun with my 3GS i-phone, I wanted an external speaker system that was portable, travelled easily, yet would deliver a reasonable stereo sound at a decent volume. I read all the typical reviews for i-phone suitable speakers and I was impressed with the number of positive write-ups for the X-Mini Max II Capsule speaker system. Bought them at Amazon and am generally pleased. They charge easily through a USB connection, hold their charge well, and deliver a surprisingly satisfactory sound, with or without the slight elongation of opening their accordion configuration. Not a complaint really, but an observation: These little i-phone speakers are not very loud, as one might expect from non-powered diminutive speakers. For something outside the limitations of headphone speakers, i recommend these X-Mini's. With more volume available these speakers would have gotten a solid 5.
There are many tiny speaker systems out there, but few with the versatility and satisfaction of this pair of tiny-giants..!

This speaker combo is a lot of trouble to use compared to the wonderful little X-Mini II Capsule Speaker. We have both types. In addition, my X-Mini MAX II won't take a charge. This occurred after only one charge. So now we can't use either speaker in this set. Get the X-Mini II Capsule Speaker instead. It's a jewel.
