Great Product March 6, 2010 mdtkdchick This sound bar is great for any bedroom or small room. We purchased the sound bar to get better sound quality out of our movies in our bedroom. We were impressed with how great the sound was and the installation was easy and took less than 5 minutes. The wireless sub-woofer can be placed anywhere in the room. I would recommend this to anyone looking for great sound without having to run wires and mount speakers.
soundbar March 3, 2010 Jolie Routhier This sound bar is a necessity with any flat screen TV. It brings out the sound well. Without it you wouldn't hear the beauty of the tv sound. We enjoy the features where you can change the sound effect from news to music to cinema.
Samsung Sound Bar February 21, 2010 Deborah Mirise These speakers are so nice. We hear every sound and feel like we are part of the show. I don't know how we ever lived without extra speakers, especially when watching movies. Highly recommended.
Not Worth the Money February 21, 2010 Kenneth E. Crawford (Bainbridge, WA) First, it arrived factory sealed without the accessories--no remote, cables, or wall mount. Samsung was no help and I had to secure the remote and cables at additional expense through a third party. Then, once it was set-up, the volume capacity (loudness) wa less than the television itself. I have gone back to using the televion and will send this to Goodwill as soon as I have time. A total waste of good money.
Sounds Good, but Can Not Choose DOLBY input on Soundbar February 16, 2010 Drew (Cincinnati Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this Samsung HT-WS1G on 2/14/10 from Best Buy for $249.99. I thought it would be great addition to our 46" flatscreen Samsung LN-46b530, purchased 1 day before, due to the negative sound reviews on the TV itself.
1. Set-up would have been easier had the subwoofer linked correctly "out of the box". It did not, and mostly because the stupid manual FAILS to state that the TV needs to be TURNED OFF when linking the subwoofer to the soundbar. I spent 30 minutes on hold for a Samsung rep, and then finally figured this out before they even answered my call.
2. If you have a SAMSUNG TV and are using the optical cord supplied with the soundbar system, there may be a problem with choosing between inputs on the sound bar. I am currently in PCM mode and can not choose between dolby or DTS input. According to the Samsung rep, this is due to a "limitation of the Samsung TV" i just purchased. With a SAMSUNG TV you CANNOT change between inputs - it will remain on PCM input (when connected using the optical cable). I guess I will have to live with this, as it still sounds good, I just thought I may try Dolby, but sadly, I cannot. Do not get me wrong, the sound is still great. Subwoofer sounds great, I can still switch between cinema, news, music, and pass (off).
They sugguested I connect the "optical cable" to the cable box Audio OUT, to the sound bar Audio IN. I could not do this with a very basic 3yr old Directv cable box with no option for optical cables. I tried the RCA cables instead, and this made the sound very low, like other reviews... (connected from cable audio out to soundbar audio IN.)I could barely hear the sound from sound bar, and tv was all way up.No Go.
So, I was thinking about trying to connect thru my PS3, and I have yet to do this. My question is, Am I SURE this is not a defective Samsung Soundbar? Do I have to live with PCM input mode, and is Dolby input that much better? If someone else knows, [...]. Thanks.
