Not What I Expected July 28, 2010 JB I decided to order these speakers because of all the rave reviews I read about them. My Polk bookshelf speakers sound better than the Sonys. These Sonys are very boomy. The highs aren't bad but not as smooth as my Polks or Cambridge Soundworks bookshelf speakers. Why am I having to turn the volume up 10 points higher on these than other speakers I own. They are attractive and pretty well built but the connections on the rear are very loose when I try to insert a banana plug into them. Not totally but somewhat dissapointed in these speakers. The tweeters go out to 50,000Hz which gives the speakers a metallic bright sound where the highs seem to dominate and drown out any midrange.
Great for the price... July 21, 2010 ThatDrunkGuy These speakers sound great for the price. No problems at all, and a fair amount of bass with no sub.
Great Speakers July 4, 2010 TrincoDog (Scottsdale, AZ USA) I'm so happy with these. My brother and I had purchased a horrible Vizio soundbar, which was returned and these Sony's were purchased. They sound great with my computer and dvd player. True to Vizio's nature, I cannot get the Vizio tv connected to the receiver to see how they sound with the television, so the television is most likely getting returned just like the soundbar. I used 14 gauge speaker wire and speaker plugs (just because those are so much easier than without). Great product.
Sony speakers are the best June 25, 2010 cc Sony SSF-5000 Floor Standing 3-way Speaker (Pair)Sony does a great job with there speakers both in price and quality. They look good and sound great. With Amazon's free shipping you won't find a better deal anywhere.
Replacing Old Speakers? On a budget? June 14, 2010 Blake Zimmerman (Macedonia, OH United States) 99 bucks. For TWO floor-standing 3-way speakers. Even if they sucked this would be a steal. They don't suck. At normal listening volumes, these speakers are perfect for the average listener whose ears have been insulted by MP3 files, YouTube sound (and other computer speaker systems!) or boombox style 'systems' of the last 15 years. I listen to all kinds of music on these; you can push the volume if you want to rock or fill the house with very little sound quality falloff. These ship in the original Sony box, with both speakers packed inside with foam corner guards. UPS had punctured one surface of the box, but the contents were not damaged. As with any shipment, examine it before the truck leaves. Tiger shipped these within a day of the order and I had them only a couple of days later. I'm keeping them, I mean c'mon... 99 bucks.
